Stage 1 (22 July) – Terni (Airfield)

Type: Flat circuit / Prologue.
Details: The race starts at full speed at the Terni airfield. The route features a completely flat 20 km circuit to be repeated 4 times. The goal is to award the first leader’s jersey. The finish is expected to be a bunch sprint in Via del Centenario.

Stage 2 – Cannara

Type: Flat stage.
Details: One of the main new features for 2026. The stage crosses the wine-growing areas and villages of the Valle Umbra, with both start and finish in the centre of Cannara. It’s a flat stage that could suit strong finishers or late attacks.

Type: Uphill time trial.
Details: This stage will feature the climb to Montelugo. It is expected to be one of the key moments for the general classification, with gradients that will test the climbers. Start and finish are located in the Spoleto area.

Stage 4 – Perugia (Umbria Medio Fondo)

Type: Medio Fondo.
Details: A stage marked by the classic rolling hills around Perugia. It is raced as a road race, crossing the Umbrian capital and the surrounding hills. A punchy, demanding route, ideal for breakaways or mid-range attacks.

Stage 5 (26 July) – Gubbio (San Marco district)

Type: Circuit stage with uphill finish.
Details: The final stage takes place on a circuit of about 75 km total (4 laps of around 19 km). The route runs through San Marco, Gubbio, the variant towards Branca, and the hamlets of Torre and Padule.
The finale: The last lap ends with a short but intense uphill kick (double-digit gradients), where the overall Giro winners will be decided.
