What an Enduro MTB race involves
An Enduro MTB race combines timed special stages, mainly downhill, with untimed liaison sections. The special stages take place on technical and demanding off-road trails, where speed, bike control and riding skills are essential.
E-MTB competitions may also include timed uphill skill sections known as power stages. Some events feature an Urban Enduro format, with timed stages running through the narrow streets, stairways and historic areas of the host town.
Liaison sections connect the finish of one special stage with the start of the next. Although they are not timed, riders must complete them within a maximum permitted time. These sections may also follow roads open to traffic.
Enduro races usually take place over one day, although some may extend across an entire weekend. The winner is the rider with the lowest overall time, calculated by adding together the times recorded in each special stage.
