The climb leading to the Montemezzo Pass is uneven and the asphalt is not perfect, but it is truly spectacular. Equally spectacular is the stretch of road leading to Casa Castalda, which we consider one of the most beautiful in Umbria for cycling enthusiasts. Enjoy the view, but also watch where you ride, as the road is winding and the asphalt is not in perfect condition.
At Casa Castalda, you can enjoy a short coffee break and take the opportunity to fill your water bottles. From here to Gualdo Tadino, the route is mostly downhill.
Once back in Gualdo, if you are a trained cyclist, we recommend taking a little more time and climbing up to Valsorda, because the view is really worth it.
Be sure to have the right gear ratio, though, because this is a real climb that leads to an altitude of over 1,000 metres and is one of the most popular with enthusiasts in the area.
