It takes you through one of the areas least frequented by mass tourism, but also one of the most interesting and evocative, especially for those travelling by bicycle.
Before setting off, or on your return, a visit to the historic centre is a must to admire the splendid Piazza del Popolo, overlooked by the Palazzo del Popolo, Palazzo dei Priori, Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo and the Duomo.
The route features two climbs, the long and uneven one that leads first to Collazzone and then to San Terenziano, and the final one that takes you back to the centre of Todi. In total, it is 51 kilometres with a 900-metre elevation gain. These are not insignificant figures, requiring good training and the ability to pace yourself well.
In addition to Todi, the most beautiful part of the route is the central section, far from traffic and traditional tourist destinations: here you can discover the villages of Collazzone and San Terenziano, but also enjoy splendid views over the whole of Umbria. The route lends itself to a bit of healthy uphill exercise, perhaps in company, but every now and then allow yourself a few moments of relaxation to enjoy the beauty of this hidden corner of Umbria.
On the descent from San Terenziano, which passes through Frontignano, please be careful as the road surface is not always in excellent condition. Unfortunately, this is the price to pay when travelling on roads away from traffic...
