Dettaglio offerta - Bike in Umbria
Hiking and Local Delicacies | Trasimeno
Piegaro was founded by the Romans in 290 BC on the banks of the River Nestore. In the 13th century, it was granted as a fief to Orvieto, and it was during this period that the noble art of glassmaking first emerged: every year at the end of May, a festival is held at the Glass Museum. On the outskirts of the town, in the hamlet of Pietrafitta, stand the Benedictine Abbey of the Seven Brothers, the ruins of a Franciscan convent and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, which houses a precious 17th-century wooden crucifix. The municipal area also includes the ‘Città di Fàllera’ archaeological site, an ancient settlement dating back to the Iron Age.
