ROUTE

This is a staged historical and cultural itinerary with a cycling and walking route, to be travelled by bicycle or on foot, also suitable for families with children, along existing municipal and country roads.

The same historical and cultural itinerary can also be enjoyed through a parallel route on paved roads, along state and regional roads that follow the same territorial axis and make it possible to reach the main points of interest also by motor vehicle.

For the paved route, see the track marked in blue.

Both routes lead to the discovery of villages, castles and traces of the Templars, offering highly evocative natural scenery and panoramic views along the way.

There are numerous points of interest along the entire itinerary. The route linked to the traces of the Templars, both the cycling and walking route, which can be travelled by bicycle, with a vehicle suitable also for unpaved sections, and on foot, and the paved-road route, starts from the Templar Complex of San Bevignate in Perugia and reaches the Abbey of Sant’Emiliano in Congiuntoli, Perticano, on the border with the Marche region, ideally continuing towards the port of Ancona, from which the Templars embarked to reach the Holy Land.

ON-SITE INFORMATION AND GPX TRACK

The itinerary on parallel secondary roads, which can be travelled on foot or by bicycle, can be divided into stages corresponding to the distances between the villages and castles that punctuate the route with their artistic and scenic beauty. Each stage has an average length of approximately 10 to 18 km.

The villages and castles encountered along the itinerary are equipped with parking areas and local services, where accommodation facilities and visitor services can also be found.

The full GPX track is available and can also be viewed on KOMOOT.

The route for cars and motorcycles runs along paved roads, including S.S. 318 and S.S. 3, and is marked by tourist signs.
