This route is 75 kilometres long with an elevation gain of approximately 1,200 metres, but the most challenging part is in the middle, just after Assisi, with the long climb up San Presto and the subsequent ups and downs leading to Casa Castalda (with spectacular views). From here to the end of the route, the road is almost entirely downhill and flat.

In short, it requires a bit of training, but it is not prohibitive.
The aim is to connect two of Umbria's best-known cities, Perugia and Assisi, by cycling along secondary roads. You will only encounter a little traffic in the first and last few kilometres and when crossing Assisi. In the central section, however, you will encounter very few cars.
Speaking of Assisi, we suggest you take some time to visit the historic centre and enjoy its beauty, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
If you enjoy big climbs, we recommend a detour to the top of Mount Subasio, a proper climb, measuring about 10 kilometres with an average gradient of over 8%. The view from the top is breathtaking, but the road ends and you have to turn back, taking care, as the asphalt is in poor condition...
