Although not particularly short, this itinerary presents no elevation difficulties. In Borghetto, it is also possible to take a detour that reduces the total distance to 21 kilometres.

The first part of the route alternates between paved and unpaved roads across the plain between Castiglione and Cortona, just a few kilometres from the lakeshore. The most spectacular section is undoubtedly the second: on a mostly unpaved surface, you follow the Trasimeno cycle path, which runs just a few metres from the water and winds through wooden bridges and dense vegetation.

The starting point is at the sports facilities in Castiglione del Lago, a town well worth visiting on the return, from where the route continues along the lakeside. Leaving Castiglione, follow the signs for Pozzuolo and Piana and, after about 6.5 kilometres, turn right, leaving the asphalt and continuing along dirt roads.

Back on asphalt at kilometre 11.5, join the SS 71 for about two kilometres before turning right towards Borghetto. After passing through the village centre and crossing the railway, there is a short uphill stretch, at the end of which you can turn right onto a dirt road among olive trees, enjoying beautiful views of the lake. After the climb, turn right again and begin descending on gravel. Passing a farmhouse and an underpass beneath the main road, in less than two kilometres you reach the Trasimeno cycle path.

At kilometre 22.5 you briefly return to asphalt, passing again through the centre of Borghetto; at kilometre 24.2, turning left and rejoining the Trasimeno cycle path, through lush vegetation and beautiful scenery, you return to Castiglione del Lago riding close to the lakeshore.
