This proposal starts from Acquasparta, an ancient town that arose near the ruins of the Roman settlement of Carsulae, and passes through the villages of Castel Todino, Montecastrilli and Avigliano Umbro.

This is an area less known to tourists, but scenic and picturesque, characterized by small villages and a succession of soft green hills.
The route passes the Fossil forest of Dunarobba, one of the world’s most important paleontological sites, where trunks made from the original three-million-year-old wood are still preserved.

To visit the Roman ruins of Carsulae, once you are back in Acquasparta, continue in the direction of San Gemini. It is only a few kilometres, but there is some more climbing to do...
