The first part climbs gently up to Casamaggiore. From here, a hilly stretch begins, leading to Gioiella, Vaiano and Villastrada, along the Trasimeno Hills Wine Route.
The roads on this route are almost all low-traffic, with the exception of the two kilometres of the SS71 just before returning to Castiglione del Lago, but these can be avoided by using the cycle path that runs alongside the road.
